
Tigers Finish Fifth at Central District Invitational

PARRISH, Fla. - - Missouri women's golf finished fifth at its opening tournament of the 2006 spring season. The Tigers final round of 306 at the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Golf Club in Parrish, Fla. on Tuesday gave them a three-round total of 915. Baylor won the event with a 54-hole total of 896.
Missouri senior Kelli Strubinger shot an even-par 72 in the final round and led the Tigers with a three-round score of 225, good for a ninth-place finish in the individual standings. Her 72 in Tuesday's round is her best round of the 2005-06 year, as is the ninth-place finish.
Fellow senior Denise Munzlinger finished in a tie for 19th spot with a three-round score of 228 (76-74-78).
She was followed by freshman Ellen Hoeper, who was competing individually in the tournament and finished in a tie for 20th place with a score of 229. (74-78-77). The 20th place finish is a career best for Hoeper. Her final round included an even-par front nine.
Junior Stephanie Wavro placed in a tie for 24th place with a 54-hole total of 230 (72-78-80), while freshman Chelsea Schriewer finished tied for 36th place with a 234 (79-77-78) score and sophomore Madde Augustsson tied fore 51st spot with a 237 (80-79-78) total.
The winning score was a 1-under pare 215 (72-73-70) by Southern Methodist's Lacey Jones.
The Tigers will be back in action at the Texas A&M "Mo" Morial in College Station, Texas on March 10-12.
