Mizzou Women's Golf Signs Kelsey Meyer

Nov. 21, 2006

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- - Mizzou Women's Golf Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer announced that Kelsey Meyer, a two-time Missouri High School Class 2 State Champion, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Tigers next fall.

Meyer was named the 2006 Player of the Year by PowerBilt, the National High School Golf Coaches Association and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, after leading Nerinx Hall High School to the State Championship last year.

"Kelsey has been one of Missouri's top junior golfers for a long time," Priesmeyer said. "We are thrilled she is joining our team next fall. She already has a great relationship with the current players and we believe she will help our program become better in the future. She is not only a great competitor, but she excels in the classroom as well."

Meyer was a four-time All-Metro First Team selection and team MVP for Nerinx Hall and played in two USGA Girls Championships.

She won the Optimist Qualifier at A.L. Gustin in 2006 with a score of 69 and won the Calloway Junior World Qualifier and Metropolitan Jr. Girls Championships in 2006. Meyer also won the Missouri Girls Junior Championship at A.L. Gustin last year and earned Fox News TV and ESPN Radio Athlete of the Week recognition in 2005, while also earning a nomination for an ESPY Award.

From St. Louis, Mo., Meyer is a member of the National Honors Society and Student Council and plans to major in business at Mizzou.
