Pregame Information: Game-time temperature was 48 degrees and sunny, with the wind out of the W-NW at 11 mph … Oklahoma won the toss and deferred its option to the second half … Missouri received and defended the South end zone … the Tigers wore gold pants for the second time this season – following the win at Texas Tech – and first at home … the last time they wore gold pants at home came against Nebraska last year … today's game marked the 11th time that both MU and OU have been ranked at the time of the game.
Series Notes: Today was the 91st meeting between the two long-time conference partners … Oklahoma leads the all-time series 63-23-5 … OU has won four of the last five meetings since the inception of the Big 12 Conference and four straight … Missouri's last win came in 1998 in Columbia, a 20-6 triumph by the 20th-ranked Tigers.
General Notes:
Missouri trailed at the half (16-3) for the first time all season … the Tigers have led at halftime in seven games and were tied at Texas A&M … the 16-point final margin was the largest over MU at any point this year … today's attendance of 62,045 was the second-largest this year at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field (64,657 vs. Kansas State last week).
Offense Notes:
- QB Chase Daniel was 23-of-44 for 284 yards and rushed for 75 yards on a career-high 20 carries with one TD (team leader with four on the year) … he now has 2,283 passing yards on the season, which places him fifth in school history (206 behind Jeff Handy's all-time mark of 2,463 set in 1992) … his total offense of 2,609 this year also ranks fifth in MU history (all four places ahead of him are held by Brad Smith, including the all-time mark of 3,605 yards set in 2005).
- TE Chase Coffman caught five passes for 57 yards to lead all Tiger players … he now has 40 receptions this year to rank third among TEs in school history, and 410 yards to place him eighth on the single-season charts … for his career, he ranks fourth all-time with 87 receptions and fifth with 913 career yards.
- TE Martin Rucker caught three balls for 29 yards to give him 98 career receptions – which ranks second at MU among TEs (3 behind Andy Gibler's 101 from 1979-82) … his 1,114 rank third all-time just ahead of former Tiger All-American Kellen Winslow.
- Missouri scored on its opening drive of the game for the sixth time this year, but the first in its last three … the Tigers have reached the end zone three times and converted field goals on three other occasions … on the drive, Daniel scrambled for 17 yards on a 3-and-13 from his own 11 … on the next play he completed a 46-yard pass to WR Greg Bracy – his first career catch – to put MU into OU territory at the OU 26 … following a Sooner time out, Daniel eluded a blitzer for a six-yard gain to the 19-yard line before a Tony Temple rush for minus-one set-up Jeff Wolfert's 37-yard FG.
- Sudden Change/Quick Strike: Following Missouri's fumble recovery 3:44 into the third quarter, Chase Daniel led the Tigers on an 8-play, 66-yard drive that consumed just 1:57 – marking the 14th time this season that the Tigers have scored in under 2:00 … MU gained at least three yards on every play with Daniel rushing four times for 30 yards and scoring on a 13-yard TD run … he also passed for 36 yards and was perfect on all four attempts.
Defense Notes:
- SS David Overstreet led all players with 13 tackles, including eight solo … it was his third consecutive double-figure tackle game … in the last three contests he has 15 at Texas A&M, 11 vs. Kansas State and 13 today … he also recovered a fumble to bring his season total to two and career total to five.
- DL Lorenzo Williams sacked OU QB Paul Thompson midway through the third quarter for the 10th of his career, moving him into a tie for tenth all-time at MU (Erik McMillian, 84-87, and Dick Chapura, 82-86) … Williams also forced a fumble with 12:16 remaining in the third quarter for his second this year and the fifth of his career … he finished with four tackles and three for loss.
- The Tigers forced a pair of fumbles in the game … one by DL Xzavie Jackson and another by LB Dedrick Harrington … MU also recorded two pass break-ups on the day … one by DL Stryker Sulak on Paul Thompson's first pass attempt and the other by DB Darnell Terrell on OU's second drive of the game.
Special Teams Notes:
- PK Jeff Wolfert connected on a 39-yard field goal in the first quarter to give Missouri a 3-0 lead … he is now 11-for-13 on the season and has made his last eight attempts.
