COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Kansas Jawhawks ruined Missouri soccer's Senior Day when the Border Showdown rivals pulled out a 4-0 victory on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Walton Stadium. Tiger seniors Lauren Grice, Aria Hudetz, Meggie Malm and Elyse Nikonchuk were honored in a pre-game ceremony in their final game at Walton Stadium.

Missouri drops to 9-7 overall and 1-6 in the Big 12 while Kansas improves its record to 9-6 and 4-3 in league play.

"Kansas' early goal put us behind early again and we couldn't come back from it," said Missouri Head Coach Bryan Blitz. "We gave up the soft goal early on, then one issue compounds another and we're down even more. Simply put, they finished on their chances and we didn't."

Only seven minutes into the match, Kansas' Jessica Bush put the Jayhawks ahead 1-0 after knocking in a loose ball. After sophomore Kat Tarr blocked a shot from Monica Dolinsky, Bush one-timed the rebound off the right post. The ball bounced off the post and rolled over the goal line before sophomore keeper Jessica Lewis could make the stop.

Freshmen Breanna Thornton and Kristin Andrighetto almost connected to tie the game a 1-1 but the Jayhawk goalie stopped Thornton's shot off Andrighetto's header from the top of the box in the 19th minute.

Kansas responded less than a minute later when Dolinsky ripped a 20-yard blast off a pass from Missy Geha to increase Mizzou's deficit to 2-0.

The Tigers had another opportunity in the 33rd minute when sophomore Mallory Forst bended a perfectly placed corner kick in to the box that found the head of senior Lauren Grice, but Grice's header flew wide of the net.

Missouri's best scoring opportunity came in the 71st minute when Andrighetto unleashed a shot from the right corner of the box. The Jayhawk goalie made got her hands on the ball for the initial save and corralled the loose rebound before Thornton could take a shot.

In the 50th minute, Bush took a shot from the corner of the box that eluded Lewis for a 3-0 Kansas lead. Dolinsky added Kansas' final goal of the game in the 85th minute on a shot from just outside the box to make the final outcome 4-0.

"We have to come back and give everything we have in our remaining games to make the best of everything," said sophomore Lindsay McCoy. "We don't have a lot of time left."

The Tigers outshot the Jayhawks 18-10 in the game but the two teams were tied with six shots on goal.

The 6,245 fans who attended the Mizzou soccer games this season marks the third-highest total in program history, although attendance average of 624 breaks the record of 602 set in 2000.

Missouri heads to Texas next weekend for games against the University of Texas on Friday, October 20 at 7 p.m. and Texas A&M on Sunday, October 22 at 12 p.m. The Tigers then close out the regular season at Iowa State on Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m.
