Pregame Notes:

Series Notes:

  • This is the fifth time the two teams have met on the football field, the last meeting being a Mizzou 33-7 win over the Rebels in Jackson, Miss. Mizzou leads the series 4-1, with the previous four games coming in a span of seven years (1973-1979).
  • Today's game marks the first time Mizzou has played host to an SEC opponent since 1984, when the Tigers hosted Mississippi St.

Gary Pinkel Notes:

  • Head Coach Gary Pinkel surpassed the .500 career winning percentage mark at MU with the win ... he is now 31-30 with a .504 pct at Mizzou and 104-67-3 all-time in his 16th season as a head coach.

Offense Notes:

  • Sophomore QB Chase Daniel rushed three yards for the game's first touchdown, coming with 11:18 left to go in the first ... it was the sixth touchdown of his career (and this season) and his first career rushing touchdown.
  • QB Chase Daniel's 20 yard TD pass to senior WR Brad Ekwerekwu was the second time the two have connected this season.
  • MU scored on the first drive of the Murray State game as well as the first drives of both halves in today's game.
  • QB Chase Daniel accounted for 242 of MU's 276 total first half yards; his 68 first half rushing yards bettered his previous best for an entire game (vs. Iowa State in 2005) ... he was 20-35 at the half, compared to 23-32 in the entirety of last week's game.
  • In his second career start, Daniel was 24-for-40 with 243 total passing yards and 1 TD; bests his previous career single-game rushing record of 26 yards (vs. Iowa State in 2005) with 89 and his previous single-game record for rushes with 13; bests his single-game record for passes completed with 24 (previous best 23 vs. MSU) and single-game record for passing attempts with 40 (previously 32 vs. MSU); Daniels' QB rating for the game was 119.28.
  • Junior TB Marcus Woods rushed 1 yard for the game's second touchdown, coming with 13:09 remaining in the second (MU 17-Miss 0); this marks his 2nd TD on the season and 9th of his career.
  • RS Senior LB Marcus Bacon with an interception for MU near the 5:00 mark of 4th quarter, resulting in a 52 yard interception return.
  • RS Senior QB Brandon Coleman with a 8 yard TD run late in the fourth; second touchdown of his career and his first in the 4th quarter.
  • WR Brad Ekwerekwu bested his career single-game reception yards record with 95 yards (previous best was 66 vs. OU in 2003); tied his career single-game reception record with 8 receptions (last time was 8 vs. OU in 2003); led the Tigers in receptions with 8 and receiving yards with 95.
  • RS Junior TE Martin Rucker had six catches for 45 yards receiving.
  • Junior TB Tony Temple led the Tigers in rushes with 14 (70 yards).
  • Sophomore QB Chase Patton saw game action for the first time at Missouri.
  • Missouri had 17 third down conversions, surpassing their record of 15 (under Coach Gary Pinkel) against New Mexico in 2005.

Defense Notes:

  • Senior LB Marcus Bacon recorded a 52-yard interception, the second of his career ... he also had 11 total tackles and 1 forced fumble . . . he now has 23 total tackles on the season.
  • Sophomore DL Ziggy Hood had 6 total tackles and 1.5 sacks for 9 yards, tying his 2005 season for sacks and yards.
  • Freshman DB Del Howard has his first career interception at Missouri . . . the interception came in the fourth quarter and gained 16 yards on the play . . . he also had 2 total tackles, increasing his season total to 4.
  • Interception by RS Senior S Brandon Massey with 11:05 remaining in the second (third interception of his career/one in each of his two previous seasons with Mizzou, first this season).
  • Mississippi was held scoreless for 28:10 in the first half as well as the third quarter . . . Missouri held Mississippi to 162 yards of total offense . . . Mississippi was also held to 10 first downs and only 13 rushing and 70 total yards in the first half (MU had 276 total first half yards).

Special Teams Notes:

  • K Jeff Wolfert delivers on a 23 yard FG with 7:19 remaining in the first half; Wolfert sets his career single-game record for FG made with 2; second longest FG of his career (first was last week's 38 yard FG) ... he also faked a 54-yard field goal to complete a first down in the eighth minute of the third quarter . . . he made two field goals and four extra points (perfect on PATs, as in the last game vs. Murray State).
  • RS Junior K/P Adam Crossett's first punt of game was a 32-yard punt with 9:11 left to go in the second - downed by MU at the Ole Miss 2 yard line ... the 56-yard FG attempt with :02 left in half was no good; this was his second career 50+ yard FG attempt, his previous coming in Mizzou's Independence Bowl win over South Carolina when he nailed a career-long and MU bowl record 50-yarder midway through the 4th quarter to give MU its first lead of the game (31-28).
  • TB Marcus Woods with a 10 yard punt return with 13:43 remaining in the third.
  • Junior DB Cornelius Brown had an eight-yard punt return with 4:51 left to go in the third for his first punt return of his career.

Next Week's Opponent - New Mexico:

  • New Mexico faces New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. ... the series is tied 1-1, with the last meeting coming in 2005 - a 45-35 New Mexico win in Columbia, Mo. ... MU won the prior contest in 1980 (46-17) . . . kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST in Albuquerque, N.M.
