Jen Bruck Named Big 12 Softball Player of the Week

Columbia, Mo. - Missouri sophomore pitcher and designated player Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.) was named this week's Big 12 Player of the Week as announced today by the league office. The honor is the second this season for Bruck and third for a Missouri player. Texas senior Cat Osterman was named Pitcher of the Week for a Big 12 record 25th time.

Bruck went 8-for-11 (.727 batting average) while scoring three runs and compiling a 1.364 slugging percentage in Missouri's games against Iowa State and Texas Tech this past week. In Mizzou's doubleheader against Iowa State on Wednesday, Bruck was 6-for-6, posting her 24th career home run in game one and adding three doubles in each of her at-bats in the second contest. She moved into third place on MU's career home run list with last week's homer. Bruck also tallied three RBI. In the circle, Bruck recorded a 3-1 mark against the Cyclones and Red Raiders. She struck out 13 batters in 27.0 innings.

Earlier in the season, Bruck was named Big 12 Player of the Week on March 28.

The Tigers will close out their regular season with a two-game series against Big 12 North opponent Nebraska beginning Saturday, May 6 at 2 p.m (CST).
