Tucson, Ariz.. - Missouri's (3-4) 8-3 loss to Texas Tech (3-5) at the Worth Wildcat Invitational at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium in Tucson, Ariz., was its fourth game of the Invitational and first Big 12 matchup of the 2006 season. Despite Missouri's nine hit game, the Tigers were unable to overcome the Red Raiders potent offense.
For the third time of the season, Missouri scored first, putting up one run in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore first baseman Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.) knocked a two-out single to right field, sending Roening racing down the line where she was forced to slide to beat the play at the plate.
Coached by former Missouri player Teresa Wilson, the Red Raiders pulled ahead in the second with a two run home run by shortstop Heather Parker. Whitney Riley led off the inning with a double to left field.
The Tigers evened the score in the second. Freshman third baseman Gina Schneider (Liberty, Mo.) was tagged out at the plate trying to advance from second, closing the inning 2-2.
Parker helped Texas Tech in the third inning with her second two run homer of the game, this one clearing the left field wall for a 4-2 lead. Kristen Healy doubled to left field driving in the Red Raiders fifth and sixth runs of the game.
Missouri scored its third run of the game late in the fifth inning. Minner's one out single with runners at first and second drove Roening home from second.
Junior Kathy Masterson (St. Louis, Mo.) entered the game in the second inning, relieving freshman righty Megan Dennis (Liberty, Mo.).
