Mizzou vs. Louisiana Monroe Post Game Notes

Tiger Team Notes

  • Missouri held Louisiana Monroe to just 13 first-half points on 26.1 percent shooting from the floor. The 13 points were the fewest in a half in the history of Mizzou Arena, with the previous record (15) set earlier this season by UMKC on Nov. 29, 2005.
  • Missouri forced ULM into 23 turnovers, which was the most by a Tiger opponent this season. The previous high was 20, which was registered by Sam Houston State in the season-opener on Nov. 14.
  • As a result, the Tigers matched a season high for steals in a game this season. The 10 thefts by Mizzou equaled the 10 it enjoyed vs. Sam Houston State (Nov. 14) and Eastern Illinois (Dec. 28).
  • Missouri had four players reach double figures in the scoring column which tied a season high. The Tigers also had four players hit for double digits in their last outing vs. Oakland.
  • The Tigers enjoyed their best free throw effort of the year. Mizzou hit 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent), eclipsing the 71.9 percent (23-of-32) it shot vs. Eastern Illinois. Overall the center tandem of Kevin Young (6-of-6) and Kalen Grimes (6-of-7) went a combined 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

Tiger Player Notes

  • Kevin Young recorded his second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Young now has three double-doubles this season and ranks third overall in the Big 12, tied with Cartier Martin of Kansas State and Aleks Maric of Nebraska. Prior to his senior season, Young had never enjoyed a double-double and had just one career double figure scoring effort. Young now has four double-digit scoring games this season with tonight's 12-point performance.
  • Young also became the first Tiger to enjoy back-to-back double-doubles since Linas Kleiza in 2004-05. Kleiza scored 15 points and grabbed 14 boards vs. Kansas on March 6, 2005, and then scored 26 points and grabbed 11 boards vs. Nebraska on March 10, 2005, in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament.
  • Thomas Gardner scored a team-high 18 points thanks to near perfect 4-of-5 three-point shooting. Coming into the contest Gardner had actually been struggling with his three-point stroke hitting just 6-of-22 (27.2 percent) attempts over his last three games.
  • Overall Gardner made four of Missouri's five three pointers on the night and has 37 on the year. The rest of Missouri's roster has 30.
  • Leo Lyons enjoyed the first double figure scoring game of his young career. Lyons scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Lyons previous career high was eight points which he had Dec. 18 vs. Furman. Lyons also had seven rebounds, which fell just shy of the eight he recorded vs. Furman.
