Tigers Taken Down By The Wildcats, 74-54

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Cartier Martin had 18 points and 10 rebounds, his first double-double of the season, to lead Kansas State to a 74-54 victory over Missouri on Saturday night.
Jeremiah Massey added 17 points and Fred Peete had 14 for the Wildcats.
Kansas State (11-3, 1-2 Big 12) broke a seven-game losing streak against the Tigers, who had taken nine of the previous 10 meetings and were 7-1 against Wildcats coach Jim Wooldridge.
Missouri (9-7, 1-2) dropped to 0-5 on the road this season. This time, everything that could go wrong - foul problems, turnovers, horrible shooting - did. The Tigers trailed 33-22 at the break and never got closer than nine points after that.
The problems started early. Missouri was hit with two charging calls in the first three minutes, was outrebounded 10-5 in the first 10 minutes and committed 10 first-half turnovers.
The Tigers' 26 team fouls - including four charges - gave Kansas State a huge free-throw advantage. The Wildcats shot 25-for-34 from the line to Missouri's 7-for-15.
Missouri tried to go outside to make up the early deficit but shot just 1-for-13 from 3-point range in the first half and 5-for-26 for the game.
Two 3-pointers from Linas Kleiza, who led Missouri with 14 points before fouling out, kept the Tigers close late in the game. But after his second 3-pointer cut Kansas State's lead to 61-52 with 3:55 left, Missouri didn't score again until Jimmy McKinney hit a layup with just under a minute to go.
By then, the Wildcats had put together a 13-0 run - nine of those from the line - for a 74-52 lead.
Jason Conley and Kevin Young had 10 points each for Missouri.
Massey scored five points and Tyler Hughes had four in a 10-0 run that gave Kansas State a 21-6 lead with just over 9 minutes left in the first half.
Missouri responded with seven straight points to get within 21-13, but Martin had seven points in the Wildcats' answering 9-2 run for a 30-15 lead with 3 minutes to go in the half.
Jason Horton's 3-pointer - only the second of the game for Missouri - got the Tigers within 39-30 with just under 16 minutes to go.
But Peete answered over the next 37 seconds with two free throws and a basket from the baseline, igniting a 15-4 run that put the Wildcats up 54-34 with 11 minutes left.
Missouri halved that deficit over the next four minutes, holding Kansas State to two points and no field goals over that span, but could get no closer than 56-46.
