LAKE OZARK, Mo. - - The Mizzou Men's Golf team holds a 28-stroke lead after the first day of the Missouri Intercollegiate at the Club at Porto Cima in Lake Ozark, Mo. The Tigers shot a two-round total of 574 (288-286) to lead the 19-team field in the opening tournament of the Fall 2005 season.
Missouri holds four of the top five spots and six of the top 10 places in the individual standings, led by junior John Kelly, who leads the tournament, standing at eight-under (67-69=136) after the first two rounds of play.
Junior Tyler Dunn, who is competing as an individual in the tournament, is second with a score of 138 (67-71=138), followed by Ben Scott with matching 71s in the first two rounds. Junior Shawn Jasper is tied for fourth with a two-round total of 146 (75-71).
"There are some great collegiate golf programs in the state of Missouri," Head Coach Mark Leroux said. "This tournament is a showcase of that and we are excited to not only be part of it, but to play well and I feel we did that today."
Junior Trent Twaddle and sophomore Chris Zeller are tied for eight with a two-round total of 148.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with the final 18 holes
