Mizzou baseball players Max Scherzer, James Boone and Hunter Mense have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Midwest Region Team. Scherzer and Boone each were selected to the first team and Mense was a second team selection.
Scherzer, the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year, has also earned All-American honors from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball. He led the Big 12 Conference in ERA and strikeouts and set a new school record with 131 strikeouts on the season.
Boone led Missouri with a .340 batting average this season and his 72 RBI on the year are the fifth most in school history. He was named to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team and was selected to the All-Big 12 Tournament Team. Boone was selected in the third round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburg Pirates.
Mense was second on the team with a .327 batting average for the Tigers last season. He had a team-high 17 doubles and added three home runs and a pair of doubles to go along with 43 RBI. He was also 10-for-12 in stolen base attempts. Mense and Scherzer are currently traveling in Japan as part of the USA National Team.
