Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri - Department of Intercollegiate Athletics celebrates the return of summer concerts at the Amphitheater at Mizzou with the announcement of ZZ Top to perform on July 16. After taking a year off, during the construction of Mizzou Arena, the Amphitheater re-opens for summer evenings of entertainment under the stars!

Internationally known as "that little ol' band from Texas," ZZ TOP celebrates its thirty-sixth anniversary this year. With the original line up of Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard intact, they can handily lay claim to being the longest-running intact road show in American rock history.

"This is a great time in our history," stated Dusty Hill.... We thought we'd just keep things rockin' this summer."

Noted Billy F Gibbons, "We're looking forward to hitting the trail again. As long as the audiences are happy with the same three guys doing the same three chords, we're there."

In the more than thirty years that they have been together, ZZ Top have mutated from a hard rocking boogie band into pop culture icons. Some might say, that they are also forward thinking musical geniuses whose appropriation of MTV and melding of Hard Rock to Dance rhythms put them so far ahead of the curve that -- for a while in the mid-1980s -- they seemed poised to take over the world. - Rolling Stone
