Columbia, Mo.-The #55 Missouri tennis team hits the road traveling to Oklahoma for matches with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and the #69 Oklahoma Sooners. The Tigers battle the Cowgirls on Sat., April 16 at 11:00 a.m., and travel to Norman for a 12:00 p.m., match with the Sooners on Sun., April 17.
The Tigers are currently on a two-match win streak after picking up weekend victories over Kansas State and Border Showdown rival, Kansas. The victories improve the Tigers to 14-5 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 Conference action. Missouri currently ranks fifth in conference standings behind Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M and Nebraska.
Missouri continues to be bolstered by the consistency and depth of its lineup. The play of both veterans and newcomers has been vital for the Tigers success. Newcomer Lubica Nadasska and Carolyn Kramer have proved to be invaluable in singles action. Naddaska picked up a 6-1, 6-3 straight set victory over Kansas's Lauren Hommell last weekend to improve her season record to 13-4 and Carolyn Kramer paired with Katka Sevcikova to pick up two doubles victories. The wins bring the pair to an 11-4 season mark. Veterans Yelena Olshanskaya and Erika Josbena also aided the Tiger effort last weekend each picking up two singles victories.
Mizzou returns home for its season finale against #11 Texas on Sat., April 23. The match marks the last home match for seniors Mary Barry, Katka Sevcikova and Carolyn Kramer. The seniors will be honored before the match. All tennis matches are held in Green Tennis Center and are open to the public.
