Tucson, AZ - The University of Missouri women's golf squad got of to a great start today at the Mountain View Collegiate shooting rounds of 294 and 291 for a total of 595, putting them in second place and just two strokes behind first-place Northwestern. The Collegiate is being played at the par-72, 5,988-yard Mountain View Golf Course in Tucson, AZ.
"We played well today and the conditions were very favorable to put up some low scores on this course," Head Coach Stephanie Cooper said. "We started strong and put ourselves in a position to challenge for the tournament title tomorrow."
Leading the way individually for Mizzou was senior Maria Ohlsson (75-69=144) and sophomore Stephanie Wavro (73-71=144) who both finished the day at even par and in a tie for sixth place, just one stroke out of the top five. Ohlsson's second round 69 was her lowest round since she fired a second round 66 last fall at the Lady Northern Classic. Wavro also had a career day firing career-best rounds of 73 and 71. Senior Mindy Bullard also worked her way into the top 20 with a total of 148 (73 and 75).
Mizzou is looking for their second tournament title of the spring and their sixth top five finish of the season in eight tournaments played.
