Columbia, Mo. -Missouri sophomore Erica Peterson (softball) and redshirt freshman Bobby Musil (track and field) were named this week's Lathrop & Gage student-athletes of the week. Both students hold above a 3.0 grade-point average, are successful members on their respective teams and commit themselves to the surrounding community through various outreach programs.

A native of Irving, Texas, Peterson is a Journalism major with a 3.10 grade-point average. Helping her team to the best-ever start for a Missouri softball team, the lefty pitcher holds a 0.88 ERA and is 13-1 on the season. To date, Peterson has tossed 87.2 innings of work and fanned 113 batters. While holding her opponents to a .153 batting average, Peterson has earned four saves bringing Missouri to 26-2 record. Peterson, along with her softball teammates, competed in a wheelchair softball exhibition game in the fall and also currently assists in various youth clinics throughout the season.

Musil is a DuBois, Neb., native and holds a 3.51 grade-point average in Food Science. A member of the track and field team, Musil won the college division 35-pound weight throw at the Missouri Open, Feb. 21. Outside of the classroom and away from the track, Musil has given his time to the Ronald McDonald House Benefit.

The women's softball team will host three games at home this week, beginning with Wichita State Wednesday, March 23, at 6 p.m., on University Field and followed by a Thursday, March 24, afternoon doubleheader against Wright State beginning at noon. Members of the Tiger track and field team will compete at the Tulsa and Stanford Invitational beginning Friday, March 25.
