MU Wednesday Evening Softball Game Cancelled

Feb. 28, 2005

Columbia, Mo. -- Missouri's softball game for Wednesday, March 2, at 5 p.m., against Evansville in Evansville, Ind., has been cancelled due to poor field conditions and forecast for inclement weather. No make up date has been announced.

Ranked 24th in the country, the Tigers (11-2) will have a week of preparation for the upcoming Coaches Versus Cancer tournament, Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6, in Kansas City, Mo. Missouri will take on Southeast Missouri and Southwest Missouri at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (CT) respectively, on Friday with a game against host school University of Missouri-Kansas City, slated for Saturday at 10 a.m. (CT) and a consolation or championship game scheduled for 12:30 p.m., or 3 p.m. (CT).

The Tigers returned from the three-day Louisville Courtyard Red & Black Classic as tournament champions with a 4-1 record. Throughout the event, Missouri scored wins over Louisville, Ball State and Iowa, suffering only one loss to Minnesota in extra innings.

Missouri moved to No. 24 in the nation in last week's USA Softball and National Fastpitch Coaches Association polls after topping No. 6 Alabama at the Crimson Classic, Feb. 19. Among MU's other key wins this season are two victories over 10th-ranked Florida State.
