Ben Askren's Weekly Journal

Jan. 3, 2005

It has been a while since I wrote in my journal last, mostly due to the fact that I was gone over break for a while. Since the last time I wrote, we had finals in our classes and then wrapped up our semester of wrestling with a trip to Ohio. We wrestled Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Ohio University. We handled all of these opponents fairly easy, each of them winning only two matches. I received a forfeit vs. VT, beat my Ohio St. opponent 17-4 and got a pin against Ohio. Then I went home to Wisconsin for about a week. I spent a lot of time relaxing and going to the HS wrestling practice. At practice, I wrestled with my brother Max, who is coming here next year. He is getting tough, but I still have to remind him who is the older and better brother, even though his is bigger now. I had a good time helping out my old teammates. They are having a really good season. On the 26th it was time to head back to school, I rode back with Josh Wagner and Chase Wetenkamp. On the 27th it was time to start training again. From the 27th to the 31st we had two a days. One word....grueling. Most of the practices were very tough. On Jan. 1st we only had one practice because we wrestled on the 2nd in the Missouri Duals. We faced Utah Valley St., Maryland and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at home. They went really well, and it was great to see our loyal fan base growing each time we compete at home. Come out and see what we're all about because "Tiger Style" is the ONLY style.
