Missouri right-handed pitcher Garrett Broshuis has been named a third team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He becomes the first baseball All-American at Mizzou since Ryan Stegall was a third-team selection in 2000.
Broshuis adds All-American to a long list of honors from the 2004 season. He was one of two Tigers selected to this season's All-Big 12 Conference First Team and he was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Big 12 Tournament.
He also earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Team and became the 11th player in school history to be named an Academic All-American.
Broshuis finished the season with an 11-0 record, becoming just the third pitcher in Missouri history to record 11 wins in a season and the first since 1979. He had a 2.61 ERA and recorded 91 strikeouts on the year.
Last week, Broshuis was the fifth-round pick of the San Francisco Giants in the 2004 Major League Baseball First-Year Players Draft.
