
Hammer Record Falls Once Again To Scherder

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri track and field hosted the first of two days of the 5th annual Missouri Relays on Friday. Senior Holly Scherder once again broke her own school record in the hammer throw, unleashing a throw six feet longer than her previous personal-best.
Scherder (Frankford, Mo.) broke the record initially on her second throw with a toss of 195 feet, 1 inch (59.46m), topping her previous record of 190-4 (58.02m). On her final attempt, Scherder launched the hammer 196-5 (59.87m), leading herself into the national top 15 performance list. Fellow Senior, Ann Snider (Harrisonville, Mo.) took second, throwing for 173-3 (52.82m). Junior Lindsay Markworth (Lexington, Mo.) took fourth.
Sophomore Jessica Stockard (Godfrey, Ill.) earned a personal-best in the long jump with a second place jump of 18-11? (5.78m).
Sophomore Adam Noteis (Lee's Summit, Mo.) hit a personal-best in the men's hammer throw with 164-7, 12 feet over is old PR.
Most of today's schedule was filled with high school events. Temperatures were in the 60s during the day, and dipping into the 40s by night a good breeze coming out of the north.
The Missouri Relays continue Saturday with track and field events beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tomorrow will feature mostly collegiate races. Next weekend, Missouri will host the Tom Botts Invitational.
