Three Tigers Earn All-Big 12 Honors

Three members of the Mizzou Volleyball team were named to the All-Big 12 Conference Team, as announced by the conference office Sunday. Junior Lindsey Hunter and sophomore Jessica Vander Kooi earned first team honors, while junior Shen Danru received honorable mention.

Hunter leads the Big 12 Conference with a 14.36 assists per game average, a mark that is fourth best in the nation. She was a First-Team All-Conference selection last season after earning honorable mention recognition as a freshman in 2002. Hunter is second in school history with 4,467 career assists in her three years as a Tiger.

Vander Kooi is second on the team in both kills per game (3.99) and digs per game (3.14) and has a team-best 18 double-doubles on the season. She is averaging 4.28 kills per game with a .272 hitting percentage in Big 12 matches. Last year, Vander Kooi was the Big 12 Conference and Central Region Freshman of the Year.

Danru leads the Tigers with 4.00 kills per game and has a 3.84 kills per game mark in Big 12 matches. She is third in career kills at MU with 1,312 in her three seasons with Mizzou and her 3.96 career kills per game average is the best in school history. Danru was an All-Big 12 First Team selection last season and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2002.

Mizzou finished the regular season third in the Big 12 Conference with a 14-6 conference record and a 19-8 overall mark. MU will host first and second round matches of the NCAA Tournament at the Hearnes Center. Illinois and Louisville will play at 4 p.m. on Friday and Missouri will face Arkansas at 6 p.m. with the winners facing off at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
