MISSOURI QUOTES

Houston vs. Missouri

November 16, 2004

Head Coach Quin Snyder

On his team after two games:

"We're able to play different guys at different times and that gives guys an opportunity. We're finding different combinations and that is making us better. We're getting better by just playing. I think we got better as the game went on tonight."

On the three-pointers:

"Tonight was a night to get them as long as we don't take too many. We want to try to run first, and look inside. And tonight we were got a lot of second shots."

On Thomas Gardner:

"He's getting better. His defense is what has been best. His leadership is critical. He sets an example for our guys. He's probably our most vocal player. That's what helped us on defense tonight. The more communication we have, the better we defend."

On his young team learning to score:

"When we make mistakes we tend to let it get to us. We can't let that happen. We're young, but capable of avoiding those problems. We tend to combine mistakes with mistakes. But if we can avoid that, we are capable of scoring in bunches."

Missouri sophomore Thomas Garder

On the game plan: "Our game plan was to really try and get our teammates shots. We're doing pretty well with that right now. We're getting open shots."

Missouri junior Kevin Young

On the team's defense efforts: "I'm excited because I had the chance to play some really good defense tonight. My teammates were getting in the passing lanes a lot tonight, and were able to make some hustle plays. Houston had a lot of screens and moved the ball all over the court, so we had to play some scrappy defense at times."

Missouri senior Jason Conley

On Thomas Gardner's development: "He's a good player. I expect a lot out of every player on this team. It's not just about one guy, but he has been playing great. He's always been very emotional, and that really helps us win games."
