Sept. 2, 2004
The #58 ranked Mizzou women's tennis team announced the release of its 2005 schedule. The Tigers anticipate a rigorous season facing tough competition from the notorious Big 12 Conference. Mizzou's docket is also loaded with a slew nationally recognized teams finishing in the top of the 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national rankings.
In addition to a strong spring schedule, the Tigers are also looking toward a busy fall. Missouri hosts the Mizzou 4-Way competition, Fri.-Sun., Sept. 10-12. The Tigers are also slated to participate in the Indiana Invitational, the ITA Central Regional and the Drake Invitational. Missouri concludes the fall season hosting the Mizzou Tiger Pro-Am.
Mizzou is backed by an impressive 2004 season that saw the Tiger squad turn in their second consecutive 6-5 conference season. Missouri finished 14-9 overall competing against one of the Big 12's most challenging national schedules. Looking to improve upon a fifth-place league finish, the Tigers welcome three new players to the 2004-05 roster in Slovakia's Lubica Nadasska, New Zealand's Charlotte Bellis and Virginia Tech transfer Carolyn Kramer, a native of St. Louis.
"As we always do, we have some great challenges in front of us, and a great opportunity to find out what we're made of," Mizzou Head Coach Blake Starkey says. "We are going to have to work very hard this year and stay focused on each match. It is going to be fun. We are looking forward to our opportunities."
