Missouri Volleyball Picked Fifth in Big 12 Preseason Poll

The Missouri volleyball team, which opens up preseason practice on Wednesday, has been picked to fifth in the Big 12 Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll released by the conference office on Monday. MU junior Lindsey Hunter was also named to the All-Conference Preseason Team. Mizzou finished 19-11 in 2003 and 12-8 in the Big 12. Nebraska is the coaches' pick to win the conference title ahead of defending Big 12 Champion Kansas State. Texas and Texas A&M hold spots three and four, with the Tigers coming in fifth. Hunter was an All-Big 12 First Team member last season after leading the conference with a 12.29 assists per game mark. She was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection in 2002. The Tigers will open up the 2004 season on Sept. 3 against Wisconsin at the Badger Challenge in Madison Wis. Their first home action will be at the 3rd Annual Quality Inn Tiger Invitational on Sept. 10-11. The first opportunity for Tiger fans to see the team will be the Black and Gold Match on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Hearnes Center.
