Garrett Broshuis Named Academic All-America

Missouri junior RHP Garrett Broshuis has been named to the CoSIDA All-America team, as announced on Tuesday. Broshuis has a 3.92 GPA as a Psychology major at Mizzou. He is 11th Tiger to receive Academic All-America status and the first since 1998.

On the mound this season, he is 10-0, becoming the first Tiger pitcher to record 10 wins in a season since Tom Heckman in 1981. With one more victory, Broshuis would tie the school record for wins in a season.

Broshuis has a 2.57 ERA and has struck out 85 batters in 105 innings of work. He was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on May 4 after he shutout then-No. 1 Texas. He appeared twice last week at the Big 12 Conference Tournament, taking a victory in the opener and a no decision in the championship game and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

He was also an All-Big 12 Conference First Team selection, which was announced on Monday. Last week, he was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team for the third consecutive season.

Mizzou (37-21-1) received an bid to the NCAA Tournament on Monday and will open up regional play at 2 p.m. on Friday against Wichita State in Fayetteville, Ark.
