Missouri junior RHP Garrett Broshuis has been named the Big 12 Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Broshuis allowed just four hits in 8 1/3 shutout innings against then-No. 1 ranked Texas on Saturday.
Broshuis struck out a career-high nine batters to move to 7-0 on the year. He allowed three hits through the first four innings before retiring the next 11 batters, including three straight 1-2-3 innings. Broshuis lowered his season ERA to 2.83 and has 68 strikeouts on the year.
His seven wins lead the team and he is second on the Tigers' with 70.0 innings pitched. Broshuis has been on the mound in two of MU's five shutouts this season. He recorded a complete game shutout in the Tigers' 12-0 seven inning win against Kansas State on March 28.
Broshuis shares the Pitcher of the Week award with Texas A&M's Zach Jackson, who took a perfect game into the ninth inning against Nebraska on Saturday, before giving up a pair of hits in the Huskers' final at-bat.
Mizzou (27-17-1, 6-11) took victories in two of the three games against the top-ranked Longhorns last weekend. The Tigers will travel to Lubbock, Texas this weekend for a three-game series against Texas Tech. Game one is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
