Corvallis, Ore.-In game one of a doubleheader against the #18 Oregon State Beavers, the Tigers lost game one by a score of 11-1 and lost game two 3-1. The Tigers fall to 11-18 on the season with the losses.
Starting in the circle for the Tigers was freshman Erica Petersen, earning her second start on the season. She had two strikeouts and one walk in the game. With the loss Petersen falls to 1-2 on the season.
The Beavers got their offense going first when Adrienne Alo hit a double in the bottom of the first inning. The Beavers were able to put the first run on the board when Mia Longfellow drove Adrienne Alo home on a single. The Tigers took a defensive charge when pitcher Erica Petersen was able to strikeout the next two batters with the bases loaded to prevent another Beaver score, in the bottom of the first.
The Beavers added to their lead in the bottom of the second with a single by Kelly Petersen, which drove in Alana Mendoza bringing the Beaver, lead to 2-0. The score was 3-0 after Adrienne Alo scored after a Tiger walk. The Tigers couldn't stop the Beavers offense as the Beavers scored six more runs in the second inning.
The Tigers got their first hit of the game in the top of the third inning when Kendra Power hit a single to get on base, though was unable to score. The Tigers earned their lone run of the game in the top of the fourth inning after Heather Kunkel scored.
In game two the Tigers the re-entered Ashley Hays into the lineup in left field, moving Morgan Recluse back into right field while AJ White resumed her position behind the plate.
The Beavers started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning scoring two runs. Adrienne Alo advanced home on a Tiger passed ball and Kelly Petersen drove Mia Longfellow home on a single. The Beavers scored another run on a Tiger passed ball bringing the score to 3-0, in the first.
The Tigers managed to get a run on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Kendra Power hit a double to drive home Heather Kunkel, making the score 3-1, in the bottom of the fourth
Behind the pitching of Erin Kaka the Tigers were able to hold the Beavers to five scoreless innings to end the game. Kalka had six strikeouts and no walks in the game.
The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow, playing a doubleheader against Portland State. The first pitch is scheduled for 3PM (CST).
