Tigers Women's Golf in Fourth after First Round of Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout

Boerne, Texas. - The University of Missouri women's golf squad in fourth place following the opening day of the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout after shooting a 303 in the opening round. The tourney is being played at the Tapatio Springs Resort in Boerne, Texas, a 6,007-yard - par 72 course.

The Tigers are only ten strokes behind leader Texas Tech, who shot a 296 on the day. Mizzou is looking for its sixth top-three finish in eight tournaments played so far during the 2003-04 season and for its third first place finish of the year. Sophomore Kelli Strubinger fired her best round of the spring with a 74. After putting up a 39 on the front, Strubinger was on fire on the back nine, firing the second lowest second nine-total with a 35. She is in eighth place after the opening round, just three strokes behind tourney leader Jackie Ey of Texas Tech.

Junior Mindy Bullard equaled her best round of the spring with a 76, putting her in a tie for 16th after the first 18 holes of the tourney. Sophomore Denise Knaebel and junior Maria Ohlsson are also both in the top 30, firing rounds of 78 which puts them in a tie for 27th place.
