March 10, 2004

LAFAYETTE, La. - Sophomore Ben Scott (Lancashire, U.K.) carded the Missouri men's lowest round of the day to lead the Tigers at the final round of the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La.

Scott fired a 2-under-par 70 to finish in a tie for 51st place at Oakbourne Country Club. That improved his positioning 19 places from a first-day 157.

Senior Michael Radek (Chicago, Ill. / St. Ignatius HS) was Mizzou's top finisher, placing in a tie for 39th after shooting a final-round 77 to finish at 225. Radek was just three strokes out of the top 20.

As a team, the Tigers compiled an aggregate 300 to finish in 14th place at 919, 11 strokes ahead of Arkansas State. Despite shooting just the fourth-best round of the day, SMU hung on for a one-stroke win in the team race over Kansas.

Among the rest of the MU scorers, freshman John Kelly (St. Louis, Mo. / Christian Brothers College HS) had the Tigers' second-best round of the day in posting a 75 to finish in 71st place at 234; freshman Trent Twaddle (Maryville, Mo. / Maryville HS) carded a 78 to finish a stroke ahead in a tie for 67th; and senior David Jenkins (Springfield, Mo. / Glendale HS / SMS) shot a final-round 79 to place 78th.

Redshirt freshman Michael Unger (Edmond, Okla. / Edmond North HS), playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot a final-round 85 in competing as a non-scoring individual and finished 81st.

The Tigers are off for the next three weeks before competing in the Stevinson Ranch Invitational, March 29-30.
