After three weeks on the road, the Missouri softball team will open the home portion of its 2004 schedule with a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at University Field. Missouri will pair with the Oklahoma City Stars in game one at 2 p.m., with game two slated for 4 p.m.
Ranked fifth in the Big 12 Conference, the Missouri softball team (4-11 )looks to improve on its season after taking on the Oklahoma City Stars (8-1) in back-to-back games. The Tigers most recently took a 9-0 win over Prairie View at the Mardi Gras Classic in Lafayette, La.
OCU comes to Columbia, after most recently claiming a 6-0 record at the Early Bird Tournament in Springfield, Mo. Holding onto wins over Northwest Missouri State, Central Missouri State and Evangel, junior Pitcher Melissa Rhodes took four of the Stars victories. Rhodes holds a 5-0 win/loss record with a 1.97 ERA in 32 innings pitched. Striking out a total of 25 batters, Rhodes leads the pitching rotation and has started in seven of the Stars' games.
The Stars' only loss of the season came during their season opener on Feb. 17 at Stillwater against Oklahoma State (3-8).
