#10 Missouri Travels to Utah

#10 Mizzou Visits Utah
The #10 ranked Mizzou Tigers take a long road trip to Utah this week facing Utah State, Boise State and BYU. Mizzou takes on USU and BSU in a tri-meet in Logan, on Fri., Feb. 20. The Tigers then face the BYU Cougars for the second time this season on Mon., Feb 23 in Provo.

The Utah State/Boise State meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. MST (8:00 p.m. CST). The Mizzou-BYU contest is set to start at 8:30 p.m., MST (9:30 p.m. CST).

Mizzou returns to the Hearnes Center to host the #12 ranked Oklahoma Sooners the following week. The MU-OU rivalry is scheduled to commence on Sun., Feb. 29 at 2:00 p.m.

Scouting the Opposition
Utah State is currently ranked 32nd in the nation owning a 194.460 team average. The Aggies are 5-5 on the year.

Boise State steps in behind USU owning a 33rd-place ranking. The Stallions averages a 194.405 meet total going 2-3.

Brigham Young is the Tigers' highest ranked opponent this week stepping in as the 26th-ranked team in the country.

The Cougars also grace the national top-25 as the 10th ranked team on floor (49.244 avg.) and the 16th ranked vault team (49.006 avg.).

BYU is 4-3 taking its last victory over Utah State 196.425-195.250. Following up the BYU-USU meet, Mizzou's opponents continue the round robin exchange. BYU is scheduled to face BSU on Fri., Feb. 19 to complete the four-team triumverate.

Tiger Rankings
* Missouri is currently ranked 10th in the nation owning a 196.250 scoring average--it is the highest ranking a Tiger team has received.

* Keeping in the top-25 in each event, Mizzou ranks sixth on vault (49.217), 11th on beam (49.037) and floor (49.233) and 22nd on bars (48.762)

* In the South Central Region, the Tigers are ranked second overall. Mizzou is also second of vault and floor, third on beam and fifth on bars.

Tiger Tidbits
* In six meets this season, Rachel Bridges, Lauren Schwartzman, Alisha Robinson and Amanda Pezzullo have yet to score below a 9.8 on vault hitting 23-of-23 vaults in 2004.

* In six consecutive meets in 2004, Missouri has recorded one of the program's top-12 vault totals, including its 49.350 all-time high scored at the Cat Classic.

* Entering the 24th Annual Cat Classic, ranked #12, Missouri bested #18 Penn State, #25 BYU and Kentucky to boost its season record to claim its second consecutive Classic title.

* On their way to the Cat Classic championship podium, the Tigers brought down three team records to win each team event title.

* Mizzou smashed the program's all-time team total scoring a 197.350 to record its first 197+ mark. The Tigers also scored a 49.300 to set a new standard on vault and notched a 49.575 team record on floor.

* The Tigers also recorded their second-highest marks on bars and beam scoring a 49.250 and 49.225, respectively, at the Classic.

* The Tigers upset the uneven bars record for the second consecutive meet scoring a 49.325 to best Arkansas.

* MU kicked off the year scoring its highest season opening scores in the program's 25-year history posting a 195.350 against Iowa State.

* Continuing their opening stanza, the Tigers took their feat a step further scoring a 196.500 against Southeast Missouri State and a 196.050 against New Hampshire. Prior to that, the Tigers' had only tallied two 196+ team scores in program history during the 2003 season.

Mizzou in the Big 12
* Missouri is currently ranked second in the Big 12 Conference owning a 6-2 season record and 0-2 league mark. Iowa State leads the league with a perfect 6-0, 3-0 record.

* In individual event highs, Lauren Schwartzman is the only gymnast in the conference to score a 10.000 on beam. She also joins Alisha Robinson scoring a league high 9.975 on floor.

* In addition to her 9.975 league mark on floor, Alisha Robinson is tied for second on vault (9.975) and third in the all-around (39.650).

* Missouri currently owns the Big 12's second-highest floor exercise (49.575) team total (197.350) scores. The Tigers also own the third-highest vault (49.300) and beam scores (49.275).
