The Tigers follow up their 1-0 win over Appalachian State with a 5-4 loss against the Lady Mocs from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.(2-0) The Tigers are now 1-1 on the season.
The game was scoreless entering the bottom of the second inning until sophomore Morgan Kent had 2RBI's making the score 2-0. The Lady Mocs managed to rally earning five runs on four hits, leading by a score of 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
After making a lineup change, bringing in freshman pitcher Erica Peterson and freshman catcher A.J. White, the Tigers were able to stop the Lady Mocs in the fourth inning. Perterson struck out three batters in the top of the fifth inning keeping the score at 5-2.
The Tigers were able to get a run in the bottom of the fifth inning by Allison Kennewell bringing the score to 5-3 and in the bottom of the sixth inning the Tigers were able to earn a run on a double by Morgan LeCluyse making the score 5-4 at the bottom of the seventh inning.
Head coach Ty Singleton is proud of the adjustments made by the Tiger's allowing them to battle back in the game. "We made some good adjustments and we need to keep adjusting and improving with each game." Singleton said.
The Tigers will be back in action at the Gator Invitational Saturday with a 10 a.m. game against South Florida and a 4 p.m. game against the host, The University of Florida Gators.
