Toledo, Ohio - University of Missouri assistant football coach Matt Eberflus has been selected for induction into the University of Toledo Varsity 'T' Hall of Fame, as announced today by Toledo. Eberflus will be honored at a banquet on Friday, Feb. 13th at the Pinnacle in Maumee, Ohio.
Eberflus lettered in football as a linebacker from 1988 to 1991, earning first-team All-MAC honors as a junior and as a senior. He led the Rockets in tackles in both seasons (89 and 138 tackles, respectively). During his senior season, Eberflus served as a co-captain and was chosen for the Nicholson Award as "the player contributing the most to the team's success." He had 21 tackles in one game, which ranks as the fifth-best performance by a Rocket tackler. Eberflus was an assistant coach at UT from 1994-2000.
Eberflus recently finished his third year as defensive coordinator at Missouri under former Rocket head coach Gary Pinkel, and developed the Tiger defense into one of the most improved units in the Big 12 Conference in 2003.
