
Mizzou Volleyball Kicks Off 2003 Season

More than 550 fans got their first look at the 2003 Tiger volleyball team at Wednesday's Black and Gold Match at the Hearnes Center. The three-game intersquad scrimmage finished with the Black team winning two of the three games.
Mary Lauren Smith led Mizzou with 15 kills , followed by Shen Danru with 12 and freshman Kijuana Sherrod with 12. Lindsey Hunter totaled 31 assists while Juliana Godoi led the team with seven digs.
Six freshman made their first appearance in a Tiger uniform on Wednesday. Sherrod, Jessica Vander Kooi, Nicole Wilson, Melissa Allbery, Abbie Booth and Katie Patterson make up the Mizzou freshman class for the upcoming season.
Missouri will open the regular season portion of its schedule on Aug. 29-30 by hosting the 2nd Annual Quality Inn Tiger Invitational. Mizzou's first match is against Montana State at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers then take on Toledo at 12:30 p.m on Saturday before finishing against Arkansas at 7 p.m. Saturday.
