Game 4 Quotes
Oklahoma State Quotes
Head Coach Julie Goodenough
Opening remarks:
"I'm very proud of our kids and the effort they gave tonight. Missouri is a
very talented team. We knew that we had to keep them off the boards in order
to win. Unfortunately, they got 20 offensive rebounds. We were able to take
care of the ball and execute late in the game when we needed to."
On tonight's win:
"That's what it takes, to get everybody on the same page. It takes someone
other than Trisha Skibbe to hit shots. We had four players in double
figures. That doesn't happen very much. I think we've only done that a
couple of other times this season. I was concerned about the tournament, and
the pressure that our kids would face. This is very exciting for our team.
We played with defensive intensity. There have been some highs this season,
but we've mainly been in the valley."
On the first half:
"We gave up a bunch of offensive rebounds. We weren't intense on defense and
we weren't finishing our defensive possessions."
On the second half:
"At the 10-minute mark, I was concerned. However, in that final two or three
minutes, I could tell we were playing with confidence. We got in a hurry on
a couple of possessions and made some silly turnovers, but we were able to
finish out the game."
On the last possession:
"We knew that Tracy Lozier, Evan Unrau and Kerensa Barr are all good
three-point shooters. My heart sunk when I saw how wide open Lozier was."
On Texas Tech:
"Texas Tech is the only team that we really haven't been competitive with
this season. They're one of the best teams in the country, and we simply
haven't competed at all."
Trisha Skibbe, Junior Post:
On game-winning free throws:
"We just needed two to win. There was no pressure."
On victory over Missouri:
"I think it was intensity and guts that won the game for us. It was an
all-out effort by everyone, we kept hitting the boards and found a way to
win."
On tournament strategy:
"We have nothing to lose, we're motivated to go every night. We're ranked
11th, so if we win it's a bonus. We just want to play as hard as we can."
Chantoya Hawkins, Senior Guard:
On team's performance:
"As long as we win, we don't care. We prefer an ugly win to a pretty loss.
We had too much adrenaline going at the beginning. We picked it up in the
second half, rebounded and came out with the win."
On meaning of victory over Missouri:
"We didn't play well at all against them at their place. We came out ready
to play this time. It's great to get a win. We went bad against Oklahoma
and Baylor in our last games, and we didn't want to end the season on a bad
note. It's great to come out on top."

Game 3 Quotes
Missouri Quotes
Head Coach Cindy Stein
Opening statement...
"Obviously to say that we are disappointed is an understatement.
There are not a whole lot of words to say how discouraged we are at this
point. I felt like our team really fought hard. I thought at the half that
we could not shoot much worse, but I was wrong. When you get 20 offensive
rebounds and you only score 54 points, which is a tough stat to overcome. I
am really proud of my players. They fought, and they fought until the very
end. We had a chance to either tie or win the game at the end, but the shots
did not go down. There is nothing you can do after that."
On the NCAA Tournament chances...
"It is going to be hard to believe that we would make it in the NCAA
Tournament. Most circles had us winning this one and playing Tech tough or
knocking them off. I would think that we would hope for a WNIT bid. Right
now it is almost too soon to be thinking about that. Obviously our players
want to keep playing. We are very disappointed in our play and we want to
keep playing."
On the lack of offensive execution ...
"We were so close to the basket and it would just roll out. I
thought our kids were prepared and took the shots. Sometimes the offensive
execution was not what we needed today. We had critical turnovers down the
stretch. You have to give Oklahoma State credit. They came in and got the
job done. Point blank, they are playing tomorrow and we are not."
Kerensa Barr, guard
On losing the lead ...
"Give credit to Oklahoma State. They shoved the ball inside and got
to the basket and the foul line often with four or five minutes left. We
would get a big basket and they would come right back at us. We never got
the opportunity to pull away."
On the game winning shot...
"Tracy (Lozier) got a really good look. We would give her that shot
in any other game. Evan (Unrau) got a rebound and had a good look to tie it.
We did not lose the game on that last possession, we lost it over the course
of the game with turnovers and lack of execution."
Evan Unrau, forward
On the outcome of the game ...
"It is an understatement how disappointed we are. We expected to
come in here with this team we have and do some great things. We had some
big wins over the course of the year. It just came down to execution, and we
had a great shot with a few seconds winding down. We did not run the play
right, and we put ourselves in that position to have to come back."
