Jenkins Takes Fifth at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior David Jenkins (Springfield, Mo. / Glendale HS / SMS) saved his best for last Sunday, firing a 3-under-par 68 and finishing tied for fifth place at The Nelson, played at the Stanford Golf Club.

Jenkins finished the tournament with a 7-under 206, his best score in a three-round tournament on the season. He tied with Andrew Dresser of Texas Tech and Andrew Price of Kansas for highest finish by a Big 12 golfer. Duke's Ryan Blaum and Toledo's Brad Heaven won the tournament with scores of 201.

Sophomore Ben Scott (Lancashire, U.K. / St. Theodore's HS) and senior Mike Radek (Chicago, Ill. / St. Ignatius) each carded a 72 for the Tigers on Sunday. Scott finished the three-day tournament with an even-par 213, his best three-round score on the season and good for a three-way tie for 31st place. Radek recorded a 216 and tied for 44th place. MU sophomore Chris Mabry (Leawood, Kan. / Bishop Miege HS) improved by two strokes Sunday, shooting a 74 (75th place); freshman Beau Crawford (La Plata, Mo. / Kirksville HS) closed out the tournament with an 80 (t-77th).

As a team, the Tigers shot their best round of the tournament Sunday, a 2-over 286. Missouri climbed into sole possession of 11th place in the tournament with a 10-over 852, and finished just one stroke behind 10th-place Hawaii-Hilo. Duke claimed the tournament title with an 18-under 834.

Mizzou returns to action this Friday through Sunday at the Landfall Tradition, held in Wilmington, North Carolina.
