Ames, Ia - The University of Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams both finished third at the Big 12 Relays today in Ames, Ia. The women scored 63 points finishing behind defending Big 12 Champion, Texas Longhorns, and the Texas A&M Aggies.
The men finished third behind Texas and Texas A&M. The men scored 74 points.
Both the men's and women's teams had very strong performances. In both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving relays the Mizzou women finished second. The relay team of Ellen Borgo, Amy Charley and Mariona Costa added two more second place finishes to the Tigers score as they finished second in the 3x100-yard breaststroke relay and the 3x50-yard breaststroke relay.
The men had several strong individual performances on the relay teams to help them on their way. The 3x100-yard breaststroke team of Matt North, Stephen Darmitzel, and Chris Musfeldt finished second for MU. In the diving well, the duo of sophomores Evan Watters and Aaron Wionzek added a second place finish for the Tigers in the 3-meter diving relay.
