Los Angeles, Calif.-Missouri's #24 ranked Urska Juric dropped the first round of the Riviera All-American Championship to Georgia's #2 ranked Agata Criotsch. Criotsch defeated Juric going 6-3, 6-1.
"Urska gave everything she had on the court, but Agata just dominated. When an athlete plays the way Agata did, there's not much many players could have done in defense. She truly played like one of the top five players in the country." Head Coach Blake Starkey said.
In doubles play, Juric and partner Katka Sevcikova drew Northwestern in the first round and were beaten 8-6.
"Northwestern is a very good program. Coming into the All-American, it is exactly the kind of team we expected to play." Starkey said of Missouri's doubles play. "Urska and Katka didn't take advantage of some of their early opportunities and it put them into an early hole. They came within one point of digging out, but just couldn't make it happen. The pair is extremely capable, but hasn't played to their abilities since the spring. As we get back into the swing of the season, I'm confident they can rebuild their trademark charisma."
