Q & A with Erica Pusch

Q: How do you think the preseason Brazil trip has helped prepare the team for this season?
A: "We played really, really well when we were in Brazil. We played how we practiced all spring and it helped us mesh better. It helped with our chemistry. We got use to playing with each other and in different positions. It was a bonding experience."

Q: What was the highlight of the trip for you?
A: "Getting to play professional teams. One team we played had a couple of girls from Brazil's national team. We had just seen them play in the world cup on TV. It was a great experience."

Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: "I just want to keep getting better. This is the first season I have ever played defense. It is a kind of different thing for me and I want to get use to that."

Q: What are your expectations for the team this season?
A: "We have started off kind of rocky, but I am expecting things to get a lot better. I am expecting us to win a lot of big games to get us into the tournament. I think we will do really well in the rest of the conference play and the Big XII tournament."

Q: What is the hardest part of being a college athlete?
A: "Balancing school and soccer. We have been on the road the past three weeks and we have missed Thursday and Friday classes. You miss lecture and work so you have to catch up and make sure that you are ahead of the game and always prepared."
