Diary Entry From Missy Peabody

Aug. 19, 2003

August 18th, 2003
We ate breakfast again at the hotel restaurant--the food is great. I had scrambled eggs, frosted flakes and watermelon. The Brazilian coffee is very good, but quite strong.

After breakfast we had a scouting report for today's games. We split our team into two teams and played games back-to-back.

We left for the field about an hour before game time. The field was on the Motorola company grounds. The field was much nicer than expected.

Our first team played an amateur team from the club Ferroviaria and lost 2-0. The game was fast paced and the Brazilian players were very skillful and quick. It was an even game, but the Missouri team was not able to put away a goal.

In the second game, our second team played the professional team from the club Ferroviaria. Missouri won 2-0 and controlled the majority of the game. I was able to score the first goal on an assist by Jennie Nobis. The second goal was scored by Jennie Nobis, assisted by Ashley Gibbs.

After the game we got to interact and talk with some of the Brazilian players, they were fascinated by us and thought we were so funny. We taught them how to eat sunflower seeds and they told us that only birds eat seeds in Brazil. Both Brazilian teams were very friendly. They loved the T-shirts that we gave them and they had us sign their shirts.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel to shower and soak our legs in the cold pool. We ate at an Italian restaurant. The food was amazing once again. Waiters came by our table with every type of pizza imaginable and we got to choose what slices we wanted. They had pizza with chicken, ham, corn and vegetables. For dessert we had pizzas with fruit, ice cream pizza and chocolate pizza.
