Tiger Men's Golf Signs St. Louis Standout

June 10, 2003

Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri men's golf coach Tim Robyn announced on Tuesday that John Kelly of Christian Brothers College High School (CBCHS) has signed a letter of intent with the University of Missouri for the upcoming season.

"John is an exceptional student-athlete. He excels both in academics and athletics and he is dedicated to doing his best in both arenas. He is a fierce competitor with great potential," Robyn said. "We are excited to have John join the Tigers."

A four-time CBC golf team Most Valuable Player, Kelly has been one of the top high school golfers in the St. Louis metro area over the past four years. He won the Gateway PGA Junior Championship in 2002 and finished second at the Future Collegians World Tour event (FCWT) in Scottsdale this past winter, shooting a 212 during the three-round event. He registered an 18th place finish at the FCWT Championship at Doral Country Club with a score of two over par.

"John is very long off of the tee and continues to develop his short game," Robyn said. "He is a hard working guy who is a pleasure to be around."
