Tigers Await Word on Regional Bid

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Missouri baseball team will find out the fate of its season Monday morning.

The 2003 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship 64-team field, with first-round regional pairings and site assignments, will be revealed Monday in a live, half-hour telecast on ESPN2 at 11:30 a.m.

Missouri (35-20) saw its Big 12 Tournament run end late Friday night with a 9-8 loss to Baylor. The Bears continued through the loser's bracket, defeating Nebraska twice and then defending NCAA Champion Texas, 6-5, earlier this afternoon.

In addition, the 16 regional sites for the 57th annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship were selected this afternoon by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. The 16 regional sites, with host institutions and records through May 24, are as follows:

  • Tempe, Ariz. (Arizona State, 49-12)
  • Auburn, Ala. (Auburn, 40-19)
  • Fullerton, Calif. (Cal State Fullerton, 43-13)
  • Tallahassee, Fla. (Florida State, 50-9-1)
  • Atlanta, Ga. (Georgia Tech, 41-16)
  • Long Beach, Calif. (Long Beach St., 38-18)
  • Baton Rouge, La. (LSU, 40-18-1)
  • Coral Gables, Fla. (Miami, Fla., 39-14-1)
  • Starkville, Miss. (Mississippi State, 40-18-1)
  • Lincoln, Neb. (Nebraska, 44-16)
  • Wilson, N.C. (North Carolina State, 42-15)
  • Houston, Texas (Rice, 47-10)
  • Hattiesburg, Miss. (Southern Miss, 44-14)
  • Palo Alto, Calif. (Stanford, 40-15)
