Tigers Finish 7th at ASU Indian Classic

Jonesboro, Ark. - The University of Missouri men's golf team finished the Arkansas State University Indian Classic in a tie for seventh place with Rice University on Tuesday. The battle for the No. 3-No. 9 spots in the tourney was extremely tight with only a four-stroke differential between the six teams.

Mizzou shot a final round 300 for a three-round total of 889, just a stroke behind LSU and Arkansas-Little Rock, two strokes back of Iowa State (887) and three strokes behind Nebraska (886) in third place.

Junior transfer David Jenkins was the Tigers' top individual performer, shooting rounds of 72, 76 and 74 to round out the tourney. He was just four strokes out of the top 10 and only five strokes out of top five. Senior Chris Happ was extremely consistent during the tourney, shooting rounds of 75, 74 and 74. His three round total of 223 put him in a three-way tie for 25th. Fellow senior Cory Ewert finished just behind Happ with a round of 76 on Tuesday and a tourney total of 224. After shooting the best round of his young career at Mizzou yesterday with a 71, freshman Chris Mabry fired a 76 to finish the tournament in a tie for 43rd with a total of 227. Junior Brandon Knaub rounded out the Tiger scoring finishing in a tie for 49th with a three-round total of 228.

This was the Tigers' final tune up before the Big 12 Championships, which will be played in Tulsa, Okla., on May 28-29.
