Box Score

STILLWATER, Okla.-- - The Missouri softball team had its five game winning streak snapped on Saturday as the Oklahoma State Cowgirls came away with an 8-0 win in six innings. The loss was the first loss for the Tigers since falling to Texas A&M on March 29.

Mizzou was unalbe to figure out OSU pitcher Lauren Bay, who gave up only one hit to Mizzou. Bay struck out 13 as she recorded her seventh shut out of the season.

The only hit for MU came off the bat of Kristen Burke, as she doubled off the center field wall in the fifth inning. The double was the third of the season for Burke.

Erin Kalka, who had pitched three consecutive shut outs, started and struggled for Missouri. She gave up seven hits and five runs, three of which were earned, in just over two innings pitched. Kalka was relieved by Samantha Fleeman in the third. Fleeman gave up three runs on four hits in 2.3 innings of work.

The Cowgirls got on the board with two runs in the second inning with the help of a Tiger error. The runs were the first runs given up by Mizzou in the last 38 innings of play. Oklahoma State added runs in each of the next three innings.

Missouri, which entered the day just a half game out of first place in the Big 12 Conference, are now 24-14 on the year and 7-3 in the Big 12. Texas defeated Oklahoma on Saturday to move a game and a half in front of MU for the league lead. OSU is also now 7-3 in the conference and move into a tie with the Tigers for second.

The Tigers and Cowgirls will be back on the field on Sunday at 1 p.m.
