Janae Strickland Scores for Tiger Track at National Meet , Cantwell and Bell Show Well

The University of Missouri men's and women's throwers did well at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Fayetville, Arkansas today. Tiger junior Janae Strickland scored for the Tigers by placing eighth in the women's shot put.

On the men's side senior Christian Cantwell finished ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 67 feet, 4.75 inches and teammate Russ Bell finished tenth with a throw of 65 feet, 7.75 inches. Both Bell and Cantwell will be in tomorrow's shot put championship. Also competing tomorrow on the men's side is sophomore Jesse Sims in the high jump.

Strickland threw 53 feet, 10.25 inches in the shot put to finish eighth, this is the first time Stickland has scored at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Tomorrow, on the women's side, Amanda Bales will be in the 3,000 meter run final and Jennifer Bennet will compete in the pole vault.

The national meet marks the end of the indoor track and field season.
