Mizzou Tennis Hosts Pro-Am

Jan. 27, 2003

After securing Saturday's first win of the 2003 season at the Green Tennis Center, MU's tennis team went right back to the Green courts Sunday afternoon for their second Pro-Am of the year. Eight well-known Columbians paired up with team members for an afternoon of social doubles. Participants included Barb Glenn, Beth Nosic, Rhonda Kassai, Robin Jones, Sue Worcowietz, Courtney Wright, Angie Schael, and Peggy Trott.

"We appreciate everyone who has played in our Pro-Ams so far," said MU Coach Blake Starkey. "We have amazing kids, and it would be a shame for people in Columbia to not get to know them during their time here, and that's why we do these things. Building relationships within Columbia's community is important in the development of our program. Wether it's a Pro-Am, Tiger Ball Kids, mentoring relationships, or any of the numerous activities we are doing at the Green, we are building strong off-the-court support."

"This was a lot of fun," said Courtney Wright. "We were at yesterday's match, and then to play with these girls was a blast! Great girls! Can't wait to see them next weekend."

The Tigers play the Drake University Bulldogs next Saturday at 1:00PM at the Green Tennis Center. On Sunday, they take on Texas A&M at 11:00AM. Both matches will be at the Green Tennis Center.
