Columbia, Mo.-The Mizzou soccer team picked up its second overtime loss of the year in a 2-1 contest against Mississippi. A fiercely competitive game leading to the Tigers' fourth overtime match of the season, ended with MU out shooting Ole Miss just 18-to-16, with a 7-to-8 shot on goal ratio.

Mississippi established itself on the board early scoring in just under 20 minutes of play. Anna Sanders flicked a ball to Karen Hall for the goal. Despite skilful footwork and precision passing fuelling Mizzou's nine shot attempts, the Tigers were unable to find the net.

Jumping into the second period, Missouri put itself on the scoreboard. After leading the freshman class in shot attempts through the first seven games of the year, Jennifer Nobis put in her first collegiate goal on a pass from fellow forward Melissa Peabody.

Despite rebalancing the scoreboard however, the Tigers were unable to overpower the Rebels in the remaining 15 minutes of regulation play and were forced into their fourth overtime game. Ole Miss was quick to finish the match off scoring in just under a minute of sudden-death play. Karen Hall sent a pass through the Mizzou defense giving Amy Sample the opportunity to score.

The game brings Missouri and goalkeeper Megan Duncan to a 5-2-1 record-both losses occurred following sudden-victory overtime play. Duncan allowed two goals and made six saves in 90:40 minutes against Mississippi.

The Tigers take their 5-2-1 record into Big 12 Conference play next weekend as they host Nebraska and Colorado. Missouri is scheduled to play Nebraska on Fri., Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. The MU-CU game is scheduled for Sun., Sept. 29 at 1:00 p.m. Both games will be played in Audrey J. Walton Soccer Complex.
