Myers, Bell Automatically Qualify for NCAA Championships

Emporia, Kan. -- Sophomore Christi Myers and Junior Russ Bell had NCAA automatic-qualifying marks Saturday at Emporia State University's Twilight Qualifier, and highlighted an overall great meet for the Tigers.
Myers cleared a height of 6-0 in the high jump to set the meet record and win the competition while Bell won the shot put with a career-best and automatic mark of 64-1.25. Bell also had provisional marks in the hammer (206-6) and discus (195-8). Bell placed first and second in the hammer and discus, respectively.
Freshman Jenny Bybee was second in the high jump with a career-best and provisional-qualifying mark of 5-10. Freshman Jesse Sims won the men's high jump competition with his mark of 6-11.75.
Sophomore Jennifer Bennett set a meet record when she won the women's pole vault (12-6.75). Junior Timothy Dunne won the men's 800m run as he finished in a time of 1:50.71.
Sophomore Gary File picked up his first provisional mark of the season in the javelin, as he threw for a mark of 226-7. Senior Micah Shanks had a provisional mark in the hammer with his throw of 204-6.
The Tigers will be home May 17-19 as the University of Missouri hosts the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Audrey J. Walton Track Stadium.
