Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri has awarded its radio rights in the Kansas City, Mo. area to WDAF Radio (AM 610), as announced jointly today by the Department of Athletics and the Entercom station.
Terms of the deal include a three-year agreement that covers broadcasts of all football and men's basketball games on the Tiger Radio Network. The station has also agreed to carry the Scoreboard Show for football, as well as the weekly Tiger Talk show featuring Football Coach Gary Pinkel, Basketball Coach Quin Snyder and Director of Athletics Mike Alden. Coverage will begin in August with the Tiger Update, a daily report on Mizzou Athletics.
"We're really pleased to be moving to such a prominent station," said Alden. "This will be a win-win situation for everyone involved. Certainly, Mizzou and our fans will benefit from the improved coverage we'll receive in the Kansas City area, and we believe that Tiger Athletics will bring an increased value to the WDAF name," he said.
"Mizzou Sports Properties is delighted to partner with Entercom and WDAF-AM," said Mike Behymer, general manager of Mizzou Sports Properties. "This partnership will provide improved radio coverage in a key market of our fan base, and WDAF's footprint will increase the number of our fans that can listen to various Mizzou products," he said.
"This is a great partnership for 61 Country and MU Tiger Sports. We are pumped," said WDAF General Manager Ken Beck.
