
Tigers Suffer Extra-Inning Loss To Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - A four-run ninth inning allowed Oklahoma to tie the game before picking up a 10-9 win in 12 innings Friday in Big 12 Conference baseball action at OU's L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Oklahoma, 9-4 overall and 1-0 in league play, used a single by Reggie Willits to center field and score Denver Kitch who led off the inning with a single before stealing second base. Missouri falls to 6-5 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 play.
Missouri scored early in the contest. After a two-out single by Jody Roughton, Cody Ehlers continued his red-hot streak by blasting a two-run home run to right field to give Missouri a quick 2-0 lead.
Oklahoma plated one run in the second inning on a solo home run by Jason Franz before MU scored in the third inning. Luke Cassis, who led off the frame with a walk, came around to score on a two-out single to right field by Roughton.
Oklahoma used three hits to open the third inning and score a pair of runs to tie the game, 3-3. The Sooners added a run in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead when Denver Kitch recorded his second hit of the game to score Matt Bose.
After back-to-back singles by Cassis and Jayce Tingler, Roughton hit a smash to third base that was ruled an error and allowed Cassis to score. Ehlers was intentionally walked before Mick Weiss singled to left and score Tingler. Lee Laskowski flew out to center to score Roughton and give MU a 6-4 lead.
Cassis reached on an error and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Rallo before Roughton hammered a pitch over the left-center field wall to give MU a 9-4 lead.
The Sooners scored one run in the seventh inning before Travis Wendte closed the door by recording one out and forced OU left the bases loaded.
Oklahoma plated four runs, all coming after two outs, in the ninth inning to tie the game, 9-9. Kitch's two-run single was the inning's big blow.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
