COLUMBIA, Mo. - Chris Julo had five hits and was one of three Tigers to drive in four runs in Missouri's 20-4 win over William Woods (Mo.) Wednesday at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field in non-conference baseball action.
Ryan Rallo and Jody Roughton each had four RBI in the contest. In addition to Julo's five-hit game, seven other Tigers had two hits as Missouri improved to 6-4 on the season. Missouri will open Big 12 Conference play Friday against Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
After spotting William Woods an unearned run in the top of the first inning, Missouri rallied with a four-run first frame. After a single by Jayce Tingler, Roughton hit a one-out home run to right-center field. Cody Ehlers followed Roughton's blast with one of his own to give MU a 3-1 edge. Mick Weiss walked and came home on a two-out single by Julo for a 4-1 lead.
Missouri sent 14 batters to the plate in the second inning, erupting for nine runs. Roughton and Tingler each had a two-run double while Rallo had a two-run single to provide the big blows that inning.
William Woods plated a run in the fourth inning before the Tigers scored two runs themselves. Tony Vitello singled to lead off the inning before Bo Davis doubled down the right-field line. The extra-base hit was the first hit in Davis' career. Both Vitello and Davis scored on a single by Rallo.
The Owls scored two runs on three hits in the fifth inning before MU used a two-run homer by Julo to take a 17-4 lead.
Missouri scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning to take a 19-4 lead. MU added a run in the eighth inning to create the 20-4 final margin.
The 20 runs are the most since MU defeated Truman State 22-10 in the second game of the 1999 season.
